Congo Container 2008
Last year the Hope For
the Children of Africa intended to send one cargo container
to the DRC. Because of the generous donations from our PNW
Conference we sent two and we still had some left over!
Mike and Terrie Hobbs have kindly committed to coordinating
the shipping of another container this Spring and the
. . .
2008 CONTAINER IS NOW HEADED FOR THE CONGO!
The
HFCA (Hope for the Children of Africa) Container '08
Team has completed another project. The 2008
container, destined for the Democratic Republic of
Congo, left the Port of Seattle on June 2nd. The
team worked tirelessly to fill this container with
goods that had been requested by our friends in the
Democratic Republic of Congo. The contents include
bibles, hymnals, communion supplies, Bible study
materials, choir/clergy robes, plus school books
(both in French and English). Medical items sent
were surgical and exam tables, scales, wheel chairs,
walkers, crutches, consumable medical supplies, and
hospital blankets. Personal and household
items included sewing machines, fabric, bedding,
pots, pans, dishes, flatware, and clothing for men,
women, and children. Outdoor items sent are an
assortment of hand/garden tools, mosquito netting,
and metal folding chairs. A variety of desktop and
laptop computers, printers, scanners, and other
computer-related supplies are in the DRC container.
Jamaa
Letu I & II were
specifically supported with clothing/hygiene items,
school supplies, and infant formula.
The
HFCA Task Force and the Container '08 project
volunteers extend our most sincere thanks to all who
gave of their time, expertise, and donations to make
this effort a great success. We look forward to the
next project with eager anticipation. Please
consider making your contributions through your
local church to the Conference Treasurer, Advance
#101000-4 Container.
